Adult Recognitions:
The Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast
Girl Scout Council and
the Girl Scouts Nationwide have
created a number of awards for adult volunteers who go that "extra" mile.
These awards often are forgotten about and not applied for because people are
unaware
of their availability or do not know how to go about applying for them.
There are a number of adult volunteers who
dedicate hours of their time and skill to help bring
successful programs to all our Girl Scouts. These adults put in many hours of
planning, preparing and presenting programs for each of our Girl Scout Troops.
The hours of work "behind the scenes" are often not acknowledged or sometimes
not even noticed by others. Sometimes it is only our peers who know how much
work has been put in.
By offering appreciation, we show respect,
build mutual relationships and commitment. Anyone whose efforts are sincerely
focused on helping girls grow courageous and strong is someone we appreciate. It
is important to publicly acknowledge those individuals whose contributions to
Girl Scouting go above and beyond, who exceed expectations and who are
outstanding role models. These recognitions are tangible reminders of the
rewarding relationships between people who are all committed to the same end. To
help girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives - like strong
values, social conscience, and conviction about their won potential and
self-worth. While nearly all of us appreciate recognition for our efforts, it
means the most when it comes from our peers.
This is the cornerstone of the Girl Scout's formal adult recognitions - that the
people who are closest to the potential candidates are in the best position to
initiate the nominations.
What kind of involvement might be considered
for recognition?
Giving one's time and talent, as well as donations for money and resources are
examples.
The recognition system is not competitive; there is no set limit on the number
of awards given each year.
The impact of the service on the girls is the ultimate measure of
accomplishment.
Many adult volunteers continue to show their dedicated partnership with girls
year after year.
Let's take the time and give a cheer for
each other and
our commitment to all girls, everywhere!
For a candidate to be
considered for recognition, all nomination
forms and letters of endorsement
must be received at the Council Office by February 22.
Nomination forms and outlines for letters of endorsement are listed below.
