Ladybug Patch Program  This fun patch program is to get to know this little lady named "Liz". Just like the Girl Scouts, ladybugs help the environment. Contact Delane Elliott

Go Green Patch Program
Me & the World Around Me - This program is designed to encourage girls of all ages to read more and write their own stories. This patch program is also designed to increase girls’ awareness of distant friendships, family relationships and exploring new travel. FOR ALL AGES – including Daisies (reading activities may be read to them)
Girls In Print - This patch program encourages girls to develop an understanding of the different types of literature they like to read, write short stories creatively, and have the opportunity to publish their story in a hard copy booklet!  Junior Girl Scouts must complete the three starred activities and choose three additional activities to complete to earn this recognition (total of 6).
Recycle It - The purpose of the Recycle It! Patch is to increase awareness of the importance of recycling to our environment. Recycling is becoming an important part of life today. With the threat of many environmental problems, recycling is necessary to help the world survive. This patch will help you with the basics of recycling.
Home Means Nevada Many members of the Girl Scouts of Frontier Council have the privilege of living in Nevada. This patch program is designed to encourage exploration and discovery of this great state.
Breast Cancer Awareness Patch All women are at risk for breast cancer.  It now causes more deaths among women than any other form of cancer except lung cancer.  Many breast cancers may be curable if they are found early.  Since we don’t know what causes breast cancer or how to prevent it, the best protection is to detect it as early as possible.  The earlier young women learn to perform breast self examinations and about healthy lifestyles, the more likely it is that they will be able to detect changes in their breasts and seek medical attention.  As Girl Scout troops work on the patch, they will help educate their friends and family members.
Me & My V.I.P The purpose of this patch is to stimulate family interest in and knowledge of the Girl Scout program. It is designed to increase their understanding of the way girls can benefit from Girl Scout experiences. Families come in different sizes and forms. “Family” most often refers to close relation such as mother, father, sister, brother. However, this term also refers to other important people in a person’s life. Great grandparents, grandparents, step-parents, foster parents, guardians, aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends may be a part of the family. For purpose of this patch program, family members may include any significant individual in Girl Scouts life.
Sudden Service Interest Form- -designed to recognize sudden service given BY GIRLS ONLY. Segments recognize continuous service. Sudden Service Requirements & Log Form    Sudden Service Log
Pride and Patriotism Enhancing a feeling of patriotism in girls and to encourage the pride and spirit of the USA flag was the purpose of this patch program. Girls will also increase learning about symbolism and flags and also have an opportunity to participate in activities they might not otherwise have available.
Green Thumb  This patch program was developed to encourage girls to become interested in the growing cycle and importance of plants. Girls will enjoy learning about the process of preparation; planting and watching plants grow.
Target Troop In order to encourage troops to strive to reach high standards of Troop Program and Organization, each troop in Frontier Girl Scout Council that meets specified standards in a given year may be designated a “Target Troop”. The year will run from September to August.
Asthma Awareness - Learning about the respiratory system and how we breathe. Learn about things that make breathing difficult, and how to make healthy life choices for yourself and how to help others.
Sun Safe  The Sun Safe Patch Program is designed to educate girls on the importance of sun protection as part of a healthy lifestyle. Experts agree that our own actions over a lifetime can influence the development of skin cancer.
Girls & Sports  Encourage a healthy and active lifestyle, enhance the physical and mental health of girls, increase the awareness that sports can have on girls, and give girls the opportunity to participate in activities they might not otherwise have available.
Song Bird Singing is a timeless activity in the Girl Scouts. This patch program is designed to get your troop interested in singing. This will also give you an opportunity to learn new songs and have the ability to teach others.
Summer Action Troop Girl Scouting is a year round movement. When school is out for the summer, Girl Scouts can still be going strong! This patch program is designed to reinforce your troop's activities during long summer days.
Go Global! Activities for World Peace- increases international awareness. For Brownie and Junior aged girls and their families.
Troop Spotlight  Good community relations takes a team! With your help, communities throughout our Council will know about the value and contributions of Girl Scouting. Your efforts will demonstrate what the program has to offer all girls and adults. Community visibility is the key to your Girl Scout Council’s ability to maintain programs and operating budgets. In addition to having fun doing service for the community, each participant who completes all the requirements will be honored at the Annual Meeting and receive a special “Troop Spotlight” patch.
Relay For Life  Relay For Life is a community-based event designed to celebrate cancer survivors and honor those who have lost their battle to the disease. While Girl Scouts will not participate in the fund-raising aspect of the Relay, Girl Scouts can help the American Cancer Society achieve its Cancer Control Mission by attending the event and completing activities from the educational topic of their choice.
Lets Get Movin' - Everything girls need to make the most of the moving experience. Written to help girls express their feelings about a move, and to help them become involved in the process. It includes a travel diary, colorful, self-adhesive packing labels and more for older girls.

We do currently have 3 "Council's Own" that we allow non-GSCNC Girl Scouts to earn.
More information can be found on our website, here:
http://www.gscnc.org/councils_owns.html

GSCNC has developed several official Council's Own recognitions that can be worn on the front of the uniform. These earned awards allow girls to delve into topics in the familiar form of Try-Its, badges and interest projects.
Capital Currency Try-It/Badge/IPP - helps girls become balanced budgeters, savvy savers, intelligent investors, and clever credit-holders
Note: The Capital Currency Try-It/Badge/IPP was designed to be used with our Program Kits.  I do not think it would be able to be earned without the kit.  These kits are not able to be mailed or shipped - but could possibly be duplicated.  For more information on that, please contact Mankaa Ngwa-Suh, Troop Resource Program Specialist (programkits@gscnc.org).
Looking In, Reaching Out IPP- helps girls examine their thoughts and reach out to supportive adults; correlates to the Looking In, Reaching Out Focus Book
Roots and Shoots Try-It/Badge/IPP - Developed with the Jane Goodall Institute to help girls brainstorm ways to balance the needs of people, animals and the environment. *A participation patch is available for Girl Scout Daisies who complete one or more activities from the Roots and Shoots curriculum

Patches
Patches are insignia that are worn on the back of the uniform. They can be official Girl Scout awards designed by GSUSA or the council, troops, or service units. Commercial vendors, such as museums, sometimes design them. Patches can be designated as earned awards with requirements or participation patches that are available to anyone attending an event and are worn on the back of the uniform.

The program outlines can downloaded in .pdf version by clicking on the appropriate links.
The patches can be ordered from the council store upon completion of the patch programs

Trees for the 21st Century
It is more important than ever for Girl Scouts to Discover, Connect, and Take Action to protect our planet.
Trees for the 21st Century has a GSUSA endorsed patch program to share with you.  Perfect for the spring or leading up to Earth Day, the program gives leaders all they need to know to engage their girls in rewarding "green" activities.
The cost is $3.50 per girl. The program provides tree seedlings and a unique patch for scouts to earn after completing the activities.
About Trees for the 21st Century:
Our Trees for the 21st Century patch features Dr. Wangari Maathai, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts towards democracy, human rights, and environmental conservation. Over the past 30 years, with both public and private support, Dr. Maathai's Greenbelt Movement has planted over 30 million trees in Kenya, Africa. In 2006, Wangari challenged ERTHNXT to plant one billion trees worldwide, which became the inspiration for our program, Trees for the 21st Century. For more information, see the website: http://www.erthnxt.org/programs/trees21.html
